Last night a plethora of A-list celebs stepped out in their best Prada and Miu Miu outfits for the launch of the Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby exhibition at the Prada New York Epicentre at 575 Broadway in Manhattan. An exhibition that houses a select number of costumes designed by Miuccia Prada and Costume Designer (to Baz Luhrmann) Catherine Martin for the new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby opening in cinema’s in the UK this month. Stars of the film including the gorgeous Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire were in attendance, as well as style guru Alexa Chung, Florence Welch, Katy Perry, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Isla Fisher, Miuccia herself and director of the film, Baz Luhrmann.
Inside the exhibition you can find some of the stunningly beautiful (what else would you expect from such incredible design talent) costumes that will be seen in The Great Gatsby including women’s gowns, dresses, hats, shoes and jewelry and then sketches, production stills, backstage footage and film trailers. A two hundred foot mural depicting a montage drawn from the spectacular part scenes showing Jay Gatsby’s Long Island mansion will also be on display as well as mannequins displaying looks for each of the 1920’s styled characters.
The exhibition will be open to public in New York from today (to coincide with the New York premiere of The Great Gatsby) until 12th May and will then travel and appear at the Prada Tokyo Epicenter from 14th-30th June. Finally making a stop at the IFC Mall in Shanghai in Mid-July.
