Beauty Envy – Clinique’s Bottom Lash Mascara

I am always on the look out for new products to add to my make-up collection, so the new mascara from Clinique that caters specifically to your bottom lashes certainly made the cut.
Creating a wide eyed look the thermal active formula wears true for up to 24 hours without smudging! Take the brush and comb through each lash for the full effect. Tip: For those of you with shorter lashes, hold the brush tip vertically and wiggle through the lashes and then hold normally to even the application out.
My bottom lashes never got so much love.

London Fashion Week S/S 12 - Toni & Guy Hair Show

“Perfection happens when the right things come together” – A quote from Toni & Guy that was all so relevant at their first ever show for London Fashion Week S/S 12. The brand brought hair and fashion, music and models, and three fashion legends, Naomi Campbell, Matthew Williamson and Olivia Palermo together all under one tent at Somerset House.
On arrival, we were ushered into the waiting area where we quaffed champagne and nibbled on canapés (including the some delicious prawns). As the fashion pack schmoozed, Olivia Palermo walked in wearing a gorgeous orange top paired with raspberry leather trousers and a nude cardigan – oh so chic.
Once we were all in it was off to the catwalk for the show where model legend, Naomi Campbell introduced it sharing a few facts about the brand (it’s been going since 1963 don’t you know), and then informed guests that she uses T&G products regularly. If her shiny locks were anything to by I made a mental note to buy every single product!
The show centred around four style collections, Classic - sleek and shiny ponytails and buns, ideal for day or night, Casual - enter the perfect messy up do and beach waves that I am desperately be trying to recreate (without looking like I’ve tried too hard obviously), Glamour - Old Hollywood style waves and curls, and last but certainly not least, Creative - think HUGE Beehives! All of these amazing hair styles were accompanied by beautiful outfits from Charlie Anderson. My highlight - a Grecian style evening dress that I plan to track down. The music was just as cool as the show with DJ Dan Lywood on the decks playing tracks from the likes of Two Door Cinema Club.
After the show Olivia Palmero and Matthew Williamson happily chatted on the sofa pre-departure, and I managed to catch a few words with Olivia once again. She really is the sweetest girl and after lusting after her bag all night I was extremely happy to find out that it was from our very own Jaeger, new for AW 11.

Matthew Williamson Collaborates with Ladurée

The day that launches S/S12 London Fashion Week also sees the launch of a wonderful collaboration between two equally fabulous names - Designer and icon Matthew Williamson and the delicious pastry shop Ladurée.
Take the delectable mini colourful treats, combined with a beautiful Matthew Williamson printed box, and you have the perfect little gift for your friend, or family member. Or perhaps if your feeling creative, something for yourself like a jewellery box? Matthew said: For this limited edition collaboration I wanted to bring together elements of both brands by developing a traditional Ladurée box using an iconic Matthew Williamson print. I have taken a hand-illustrated butterfly wing and repeated it in kaleidoscopic layers to give a contemporary graphic effect; the block mint and cerise colours used are typical of both our aesthetics, perfect to house a candy coloured rainbow of macaroons!”
The limited edition gift box with eight macaroons will be available at Ladurée shops from tomorrow, priced at £14.10.

Interview with the Gorgeous Portia Freeman

This week the gorgeous model Portia Freeman unveiled the Coutts London Fashion Week window to celebrate the support from the brand to Fashion Forward designers Peter Pilotto and Todd Lynn. The window display features bespoke dresses designed by both Peter and Todd for Coutts, and will feature a TV screen that will stream the London Fashion Week shows live! Catching up with Portia, here is what she had to say ...

Why is it important to support young designers?
In fashion there are these massive powerhouse brands like Chanel and Gucci who create amazing collections and are internationally known, and I think it’s hard for a burgeoning brands and young designers to get noticed sometimes. Hannah Marshall has made a great impact and created a space for herself amongst the other big names. Anything I can do to help these talents make a name for themselves I am happy to. It’s great that Peter Pilotto and Todd Lynn have Coutts and the British Fashion Council backing them financially, and if I can help raise awareness and bring more exposure then I’m in.

What’s special about London as a fashion capital? How is it different to New York, Milan and Paris?
I mean this in the best possible way, but London fashion is much more shabby chic than other places! I think London style is far more eccentric and eclectic than anywhere else, it’s carefree and people really go for it! I think London is the best place for young designers as it’s the most accepting, New York, Paris and Milan are much more difficult to crack and not so welcoming to new designers I think. The British Fashion Council are so supportive, giving young talent a platform through these initiatives like Fashion Forward that Coutts has sponsored.

H&M Launches in Selfridges with Leigh Lezark

On the 25th August H&M launched its first ever shop-in-shop at Selfridges in London, with an exclusive collection guest curated by the stunning model and DJ from the Misshapes, Leigh Lezark.
Situated in the women’s street fashion department on the ground floor of Selfridges the concession store will feature only the latest key fashion collections and accessories, including the exclusive collection chosen by Leigh herself who was there at the launch doing a DJ set. Leigh said ‘I love shopping at H&M and I always make sure to visit Selfridges when I am in London’. As each season passes H&M promises further stylish guest curators and limited, and exclusive collections.

Umberto Giannini Launches Make-Up Range

This month sees Umberto Giannini’s transition to specialising in beauty as well as hair care as the brand launches their first new range of cosmetics.

The star product of the collection is the Painted Lady make-up palette that can prepare you for your day look and your night look. With four glosses and four eye shadow duos, you are bound to find a colour that suits you, and if not, dare to be wild and try something new! It’s All About Burberry Body

This month sees the launch of Burberry’s new fragrance called Burberry Body - a unique and striking scent with a unique and striking bottle to match.

The fragrance combines top notes of fresh green absinthe, peach and freesia, heart notes of beautiful rose and iris, with a base of sandalwood, cashmerean, musk, amber and vanilla. A fruity fragrance that smells amazing. The bottle is described as a multi-faceted, iconic glass bottle with rose gold engraving which has a jewel-like design reflecting the creativity of the Burberry brand.

To match the fragrance, (which has now become my favourite) the advertising campaign was equally spectacular. Fronted by the beautiful former Victoria Secret and Burberry model Rosie Huntington-Whitely and shot by Mario Testino the Burberry Body campaign captured all the beauty that the fragrance conveys. Rosie’s seductive pose in a rose satin trench coat seduces you in (plus she is near enough naked). Rosie said ''It’s a huge honour to be working with Burberry again, a brand that put my career on the map and helped launch me. To be asked to be the first 'Burberry Body' is an amazing compliment.''. The whole advertising campaign was shot under the careful and creative direction of Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey, and the Burberry Body fragrance was made available in over 150 markets late last week.

Whilst the fragrance is available to now purchase in stores and online, there is an active bespoke application on Burberry’s Facebook page where you can sign up for a sample. The fragrance is priced at £75 for the 85ml eau de parfum, £55 for the 60ml and £45 for 35ml.


Kate Spade Sets Up Home in London

Last week saw the launch of Kate Spade New York in London. A week that I have been dreaming of since I welcomed the cute, and cool pop-up store that set up home in Covent Garden last October for one month, only this time there is not one but two stores that simultaneously opened, and they are here for the long haul. Situated in Covent Garden and Sloane Square, the heart of London’s shopping districts.
The store by Sloane Square is situated on Symons Street and the first thing we noticed on arrival to the launch party was two yellow signature New York taxis, and some giant red balloons. Heart the authenticity. We made our way through the doors into the middle of the store, and the middle of the fashpack. Beautiful people surrounded by beautiful items from the cute little journals, and the cool and quirky art, to the gorgeous chunky bags and the pretty sparkly shoes. Champagne flowed through the store, along with some refreshing watermelon cocktails, and delicious canapés that included sweet potato chips (something that I still cannot quite believe I have never tried, and spent the entire weekend trying to recreate) and mini burgers.
DJ sets were hosted by the likes of Sunday Girl, Annie Monroe from The Like, and The Queens of Noize, and Jameela Jamil roamed the party looking stylish in a big red hat, with a red Kate Spade bag to match. To go one better than the Kate Spade New York pop up stores fun photo booth, party guests could create photographic flip books of themselves set against a New York City sky line back drop as they posed or danced for 7 seconds in front of a camera. Absolutely genius.

Vogue Fashion’s Night Out 8 Sep 11

Tomorrow sees one of fashions biggest nights of the year in the world return to London , a night where over 340 (the figure keeps on rising) designers and stores in London come together and celebrate fashion with Vogue magazine. Official fashion hot spots include central London, Covent Garden and Chelsea. 

So what happens? Each shop throws a party from 6pm to 10pm with drinks, celeb appearances and lots of surprises from discounts to goodies. Which stores will host the best party? Well last year I spent the majority of my night between Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney, DNKY and Nicole Farhi. On my travels from store-to-store I was able to meet Stella herself, and the wonderful Christopher Bailey as well as enjoying entertainment from One Night Only and feasting delicious cocktails and canapés.
