What Are Your Plans This Weekend?

As the British ‘summer’ draws to a close what better way is there to enjoy your long weekend than heading to London’s best electronic weekender - South West Four on Clapham Common? Like it is even a question. An entire filled with the best electronic acts and DJs in the country.

Take your pick from the line up on Saturday 27th August which includes the amazing headliner that is Underworld, as well as acts including the legendary Judge Jules, Sven Vath and Ferry Corsten. If that is not enough you can enjoy an insane amount of music on Sunday 28th August from one of the best headliners in the world - Pendulum, as well as Annie Mac, Simian Mobile Disco, Steve Lawler and Subfocus to name a few.
After several years of venturing to the bank holiday festival before I can only express my positive thoughts. It is literally a weekend full of fun where you feel you can completely let loose and dance like a crazy kid. Previous festival visits around the country and on the White Isle have proved that Pendulum, Annie Mac, Underworld and Simian Mobile Disco are not to be missed. The fashion is genuinely cool and quirky, and by the end of the evening following one too many ciders, and jams on the grass people begin to chill pre-after parties.
The perfect way to spend your weekend. The popular festival has sold out on Saturday already, however, there are still tickets available for Sunday at Ticket Master. Day tickets cost £45 plus booking fee so invest in yours NOW. Who would want to miss Pendulum and Annie Mac anyway? For the full line up visit SW4 online.

A Razor Smooth Summer

This month I ventured to Covent Garden for Bic Soleil’s colourful ‘Just Live Your Summer’ campaign launch hosted by the gorgeous Emma Willis. We were treated to fish pedicures, mini zumba classes, delectable canapés and razor inspired cocktails.
The new campaign encourages women across the country to inject some ‘joie de vivre’ into their everyday lives by trying something new this summer. Personally my aim at the beginning of summer was to try my first European festival and I will end my summer with success, following a very festive seven day experience in Croatia at The Garden Festival in July.
Back to the party I made my way through the colourful stands showcasing each individual razor, and with so many colourful ones to choose from it is difficult to know which one to pick. Like most girls, I tend to invest in the prettiest razor that will look cute in my bathroom but what I didn’t think about is that each razor has its individual benefits. There is the Miss Soleil collection where razors have a non-slip grip and a pivoting handle. They are pink and designed for the active girl. The Soleil Bella collection is blue with pivoting heads on each razor with coconut milk. The Bic Soleil Scent collection speaks for itself, and the Bic Soleil Lady Woman collection offers a silky shave with its soothing Aloe Vera and nourishing Vitamin E head for sensitive skin.
As my preference is shaving over waxing (due to the fear of immense pain) I test them all and prefer the Miss Soleil collection. It’s pretty and pink, and gave me the closest shave leaving my pins silky smooth for the night ahead.
At the party Emma schmoozed through the crowd of beauty journalists, shortly before nervously testing a fish pedicure while joking about going into labour early due to idea of having her feet eating by fish. I have to agree, the idea sickens me too. However after my brave attempt of placing my hand in the fish tank first, I went in with my feet and left with the softest tootsies ever.

Links of London A/W 11

To celebrate Links of London’s new A/W collection the quintessentially British brand hosted a Christmas in July picnic at their show rooms. Literally the cutest Christmas picnic I have ever seen complete with fake snow, baubles, robins, a vintage bike and swing set. It’s a little early but already I am excited for the nights in front of the fire place in long woolly socks and thick wool knits.
The key A/W collections to look forward too include the FEED for Links of London bracelet range that will help fight hunger all over the world whilst looking super chic on your wrist. There is a number on the heart of each bracelet which represents how many meals the money you paid for the bracelet has provided for charity. My highlights include the red leather cuff, the black onyx and silver ring, and the purple friendship bracelet, but with so much to choose my list is endless. The A/W collections begin to feed into stores next month.
Here is a sneak peak of what Links of London have in store for the A/W and of course of the gorgeous picnic:

Festival Fashion From Miss Selfridge

Now we are in the heart of the festival season I cant help but continue to beef up my festival wardrobe. So long Glastonbury (until 2013), Secret Garden, Latitude and Hop Farm … Hello V, SW4, Reading, Revival and Bestival. We could not be happier to see you all.

In preparation for this fashionable time Miss Selfridge prepares to kit you out with key essentials. Floral maxi dresses, beaded vests, leather waist coats, chunky rings and bracelets, and of course the standard denim shorts. Beiges, browns, greens, whites and blues dominate the festival colour palette only adding hints of other colours in floral prints, but do not be afraid to experiment with bright and bold colours too. Think red and orange.

The press preview event even had some hairdressers on hand and ready to create festival hair … think French plaits and curls, but don’t forget the dry shampoo.

Finding Mr Bright

My new found love - A cute pink packaged kit from Benefit containing key must have products for the ultimate party girl look, complete with a manual on application tips. The perfect gift for yourself and your friends.
What is in the kit? Four of Benefit’s best sellers all in miniature sizes for the girl about town hunting Mr Right. Girl Meets Pearl - the glowing liquid that gives you an immediate shimmer. Erase Paste - to erase the dark circles from the night before (what he can’t see cant hurt you). High Beam – a product that needs not much of an explanation as it is one of Benefit’s most famous products. It highlights cheek and brow bones. And finally Posie Tint – a liquid based product that can be used as a blush for cheeks or as a stain for your lips.

What Happens At 8 Stays At 8

So last month I hotfooted my way down to Bungalow 8 at the St Martin’s Lane Hotel, to attend an event that was guaranteed to have a ‘break the bank’ effect on me. The Nine West A/W 11 press preview. At the entrance to the long stairs down to the bar I was greeted with a taster of shoes and clutches to come (love the colour palette already), and a chair with painted gold letters … What Happens At 8 Stays at 8. What a great play on words - the memories come screaming back to me of nights out in the New York Bungalow, the scandal and the exclusivity. I make my way downstairs ready to play to be greeted by a shoe heaven.
So what can we expect from one of the high street top shoe retailers next season? Lots of pretty party shoes, and lots of warm stylish winter boots. I spot a pair of pointed platform sequin courts called Cress (above) that become my immediate favourite. Glancing over at the wall, and then around the tables there were so many shoes to love, I forget that I am not rich and dream of my A/W11 shoe closet. With my attention still drawn back to the sequin points I note a rather gorgeous pair of boots called Uplifting that have laces and roll down collar at the top of the boot. Second favourite and need/want. It all became too much of a challenge to mentally note my favourites so I headed for refreshments. Sequins decorate wedges, block platform heels adorn the bottom of both shoes and boots, and some pretty brogues catch the eye. The super chic bold colour clutches with fur tails also join my need/want list for A/W 11.
Further back into the bar I find the highly anticipated Giles for Nine West collection. A small collection that is also known as one of Nine West’s ‘shoelaborations’ which see Nine West partnering with young designers. The amazing Giles Deacon combines his unique talent with Nine West to create a cute collection that consists of … One gorgeous bag called Ronnie (complete with laptop case) in two prints, one pair of flats called Bernadette in orange and in black, one suede boot with two sleek leather straps called Layla, and a gorgeous pair of wedges called Polly. Beautiful.
Both collections are available from September in Nine West stores, and concessions.
