Day four of London Fashion Week saw another fantastic show, this time from Burberry Prorsum. For the first time a catwalk was staged in a tent by the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens. To add to its individuality the show was streamed live on the big screen at Piccadilly Circus where the Coca Cola advertising video would usually play. Smart. This combined with a front row to dream of including Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth, Anna Wintour, Alexa Chung, The Kills, Douglas Booth, George Craig and Mario Testino. And a finale of snow - the show stood above many.
The Burberry A/W 11 collection is modern, bold and colourful - statement making. Take the many coats that were paraded up and down the runway, I love the modern take on the trench coat. The colour palette of oranges, teals, reds, olives and honey like tones shines on the catwalk making winter bearable. Inspired by Jean Shrimpton, the 60’s influence was clear with nipped-in waists and flares. Absolutely love the wedged heel boots, the cream jumper with fur sleeves, and the cream coloured cut out dresses.
A truly mesmerising show and story played out through an emotional soundtrack from the likes of Adele and Dusty Springfield. For the finale walk models re-appeared wearing transparent cropped coats over their outfits as fake snow rained down on all of us. Excellent work Christopher Bailey.
