Swarovski Meets Sex & The City

To celebrate the launch of the Sex & The City 2 DVD, the Swarovski Crystallized Lounge on Great Marlborough Street in London hosted an oh so SATC New York party. The chic gathering was attended by Willie Garson (aka Stanford in SATC), sisters Poppy and Cara Delevigne and Jameela Jamil. Could Poppy and Cara be more blessed in beauty?
Skky vodka cocktails and prosecco flowed through the room that complimented the delicious canapés including goats cheese and caramelised onion on toast and chicken and mayo wraps. The store had an Arabian theme for decoration and the glass cabinets displayed some of the gorgeous Swarovski pieces that SJP herself wore. Garson wore a Banana Republic suit for the evening and was tight lipped on whether there will be a third film in the making. We can only dream. Later on in the evening, Jamil wearing a gorgeous Topshop dress span the decks.
At the end of the evening guests left with a Swarovski crystal encrusted copy of the SATC 2 DVD, an SJP fragrance and a Swarovski bracelet amongst other things.

Kate Spade Press Day S/S 2011

Hot on the heels of the successful apartment store that popped up in Covent Garden last month, I caught a sneak peak of the new Kate Spade New York S/S collection 2011 at the Starworks Group press day. Let me tell you, it’s fabulous.
Think pinks, peaches and yellows with some black and whites to mix it up. Gorgeous leather bags are bold to brighten your day and your wardrobe. Jewellery is colourful and chunky and the homeware reflects the clothing and accessories - chic and feminine. Highlights include the pink cardigan with beading embellishment and the strapless pink mini dress.

A Kate Spade store is in line to open in London in April 2011, in time for the S/S collection to hit the stores.

Going Out - A Little bit of New York in London

Proud in Camden is in my opinion one of the coolest venues in London, hosting everything from gigs and club nights, to gallery exhibitions and now a restaurant. Celeb fans include, Mischa Barton, Florence Welch and Mark Ronson. Proud Kitchen launches in the South Gallery and is every inch as cool as the VIP stables.
The restaurant is designed to encourage a social atmosphere, inspired by New York's laid back attitude to dining. Long tables line the gallery seating around eight to ten people at a time. The menu has a wide range of choice including steak, risotto and sea bream followed by delicious deserts including meringue. Rather than a sophisticated dining experience, it provides the perfect atmosphere for a pre-gig dinner with that little bit of cool.

Proud Kitchen is located at The Stables Market, London NW1 8AH. Call to make a booking on 020 7482 3867.

Alice’s Birthday

Last week Alice Temperley celebrated the 1st birthday of her line 'Alice' by Temperley at Paradise by the way on Kensal Green, near trendy Notting Hill. The theme - English eccentrics. Guests wore anything from Alice in Wonderland inspired costumes to masquerade masks and elaborate hats. Absoloutely fabulous. Felt like I was at a house party that combined London's most stylish, so many pretty dresses.
The fashion pack were out in force once again this month, including Poppy Delevingne, Lily Donaldson, Laura Bailey, Ben Grimes and Nick Grimshaw to name a few. Ellie Goulding span the decks accompanied by BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James, followed by Daisy Lowe. Goulding and friends enticed guests on to the stage and the party got off to a perfect start. Songs of choice included Katy B, N*E*R*D and Rhianna.

Canapes flowed through the party in large proportions, the duck rolls and cheese balls were delicious and cocktails lined the bar in quantities. To top off the night guests captured their costumes in all fashion glory in the instant print photo booth, producing photographes in black and white, colour and sepia. The black and white were definitely the most flattering. Fact.

Julien Macdonald's Resort Collection

I love a new collection at the best of times and this is perfect for my dress addiction. Julien Macdonald launches his Resort collection exclusively to Harrods and Selfridges this week.

An array of beautiful dresses structured for day and glamorous for night in muted tones. Nudes, navies and blacks take this collection straight into your Christmas wish list. The dresses are wardrobe staples through the seasons to come, especially the midnight blue dress accessorized by long black gloves. Swoon.

Continuing with Julien's trend for over sized knitwear from A/W 10 a sheep skin shrug complements the collection.

A Night with Nicole

To celebrate the collaboration between the wonderful fashion designer, Nicola Farhi and renowned paper sculptor Su Blackwell, Farhi hosted a party at her flagship store on Bond Street, London. A lovely evening of champagne, canapés (deserts were delectable), fashion, art and music.
This Christmas you must take a peek at the windows of the Nicole Farhi store on Bond Street! They came alive at the launch on Tuesday 23rd November and tell a Christmas story by Stephen Doig of how Blackwell met Farhi. The story called ‘When Lady Hare Met Su Blackwell’. Also another great excuse to hit the best shopping street in London.

Blackwell is a known for crafting intricate sculptures from the pages of vintage books and demonstrates her work with large scale depictions in the windows of the store. After admiring Blackwell’s work in window displays for Cartier and campaigns for Kenzo, Farhi felt compelled to work with her. Farhi said of Blackwell’s art: ‘I loved the delicate approach to her art. I thought it was beautiful, whimsical and poetic.’
The story will adorn selected Nicole Farhi store windows around London with exclusive events on the following dates: 2nd December in Covent Garden and the 4th December in South Kensington and Hampstead, thus you have no excuse.

Kurt Geiger S/S 2011 Press Day

This week I went to the Nash and Brandon Rooms at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London for the Kurt Geiger press day to view the Spring/Summer 2011 collection. I literally cannot emphasise how amazing the collection is, and how much I cannot wait for it to hit the stores. Their best collection to date. Imagine a room with two hanging pieces, one hanging shoes that fall just above your head and the other hanging shoes a foot off the floor. Very artistic with the perfect gallery backdrop.

Three mirrors with quotes from Yves Saint Laurent, surrounded the room conveying his notable birds of paradise influence on the new collection.

'But at night I want women to be birds of paradise' - Yves Saint Laurent, Elle, 1977.

'I like dull colors by day, because I fine the light of Paris is ill-suited to bright colors' - Yves Saint Laurent, Elle, 1977

Think bold, tropical and bright colours - greens, yellows, pinks and blues, feather and flower embellishment. For this post there is not a lot I can say as the shoes say it all (see below) ...
