Walking along Bond Street in the autumn/winter is one of my guilty pleasures, the merchandised windows of the high fashion labels, Christmas decorations and lights in place, and the Chanel press day. A fabulous A/W day.
Three luxury filled rooms stood before me at the Chanel HQ on Old Bond Street, one filled with costume jewellery, handbags, clothing and shoes. Another with watches and some further fine jewellery and the other hosted the new make-up collection launching in January 2011, and the signature Chanel press day mood board. It is all be it not the same as a Chanel fashion show in Paris, however the press day excites none the less. The touch and feel of a Chanel piece is excitement in itself, especially the lady bug adorned 2.55.
As I wander around I see lion and CC embellishment on gorgeous black, cream and red bracelets, classic Chanel tweed and leather quilted bags, a tweed dragon fly embellished bag and floral decorated ballet pumps take my fancy in particular. A luxury two piece tweed skirt suit, wedged sandals and bright red and yellow rain macs all combine to make a fantastic collection. I complete my mini ‘tried & tested’ with the make-up collection and glance over the mood board, which spreads an entire wall. Sketches, Polaroid’s and materials, all of which inspired Karl Lagerfeld, and now me included. I leave on a high.
